Sketching Butterflies

Hi there folks, how are you?
I’ve been looking for some inspiration through my photo’s and came upon some butterflies.

I have no idea what their real names are. They have a tendency to sit hiding amongst the foliage with their brown wings closed and as they fly away the full colour and beauty of their stunning iridescent blue wings is exposed. Sometimes they alight upon a branch and bask in the sunshine with their wings open, soaking up the sun.

I took the photo in the butterfly house at the zoo. There are so many pretty butterflies and plants in there. If only they would sit still long enough for me to take a picture!

As you can see in the drawing sometimes the wings get quite raggy. Unfortunately some of their wings get damaged because they land on or near people and they touch the wings.

Lovely white butterflies sitting on lavender flowers

We saw more butterflies on our trip to Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Some of the bushes there were covered in them but sadly they weren’t in much of a mood to pose for the camera.

These white butterflies were so busy sucking up nectar I managed to sneak up on them and take a few snaps.

I Love the summer months, the flowers and butterflies the heat but autumn is almost here and were now grasping at the last sunny days of the year. I’m really hoping we get just a few more before the weather changes

Thanks for stopping by today. Till next time, have fun x
